I do not think it will be an easy match for Germany, Turks are very tough, they had a big chance in this EURO 2008, they even played Semi Finals in 2006 wold cup, I think it will be a long match with that same Turkish dramatic ending but I this time Turkey is playing for something that never ever had happened in Turkey History I hope to see great football and who played best will win.

turks played, germans won. germans answer to turkey’s 8 missing players was Busacca’s unilateral decisions.

lol. jealous of Germany are we? Or perhaps bitter than a better German side beat the poor Portuguese? People obviously forget during the match how the ref missed a blatant foul on Lahm and the fact that Senturk should have got a 2nd yellow for a foul on Metzelder.

oh, and the 3rd was NOT OFFSIDE. Please watch the replay again properly.

Interesting, Turkey put up a good fight. I thought germany was going to shut them out but anyways, Congrats to Germany.. Good Luck to Spain or Russia.

It was definitely a good game. In the end, it all comes to the word, never give up~ Both teams were trying their best to overcome one another and finally, Germany prevailed.
Turkey should be given credit as well, they put on a very good show throughout the tournament and dominated most of the game against Germany.
Cheers, all the best!

the center back marking Klose held Lahm and Schweinsteiger onside who were both right next to each other, it was a legit goal, quit crying about everything portugal fan, just because you like Christiano doesn’t mean you have to be a prima donna like him

Thank god that the turks did not win. As I’ve said all along they do -not- belong to the european championships, because they bloody well ain’t europeans. A little slab of land near the bosporus does not make them europeans.
And to be frank the turks had a fairly easy ride. They lost to big football countries and won some middleweights.
Good job Germany!

nub see the guy to lahms right he wasnt offside before he made his run so germnay won fair and square i didnt like though in the previous game though how the dude stepped on ronaldos ankle on purpose
By karaokefreak on Jun 26, 2008 | Reply
geeez… what a heartbeat-game. Germany played lousy - no energy, a lot of bad passing a.s.o. Respect for the turkish players who gave our team a really hard time. If turkey had won, it would not have been undeserverd.
However, its not onl the turks you have to watch until the very last minute of the game. I’m glad that germany made it into the finals afte a rather dissapointig game - that means that they will power up one more in the Finals!
Hey portugal!!! : Please watch the replays once more. The third goal was no offside. Anyway, what counts is the refs choice. And he didn’t give germany the deserved penalty shot either, so please don’t talk about cheating. It simply isn’t true (and after all, you cannot cheat in a soccer game unless you have the ref on your payroll or something)

this the wonderful of football coz no team is perfect. no one can really predict when they play football. These things happen in football – you don’t always score, you sometimes concede. I think that turkey we were the better side, though, but germany is the winner. love to see germany vs spain. good luck to both team….

@ Sideshowbob,
Maybe your history knowledge is very poor. But, you have to know that Turks governed Europe about 500-600 years. You learned many thing from Turks. Who knows, maybe your grandfather of grandfather… is Turk, too. And now, Turkiye is Euroasian country. Our European part is bigger than some other European countries and Istanbul is one of the biggest cities of Europe. About 20-25 millions people live in European part of Turkiye, and i want to ask you that how many countries in Europe has more population of our European part? And why you don’t talk about Israel? Are they have any part in Europe? If you have not any answers, please shut up and be a brainy man.

Turkey did play very well. They were playing 90 minutes but germany was the lucky one. the 3rd goal wasnt an offside, BUT one of the turks was lying on the ground because he had an accident and he couldnt walk anyway. And what did Phillip Lahm? He didnt shot the ball outside, he played.. and thats not fair. Im not turk but thats really hard for them, because germany is playing such bad football on this european championship.
Great Congratulation Turkey, i think last night you were the winners
By TunGay on Jun 26, 2008 | Reply
Yalç?n is right! Constantinople is the biggest city in Europe, and since its Greek by origin it does belong in the Euro!

@ portugal
Be neutrally!
Germany was better against Portugal. And haven`t a offside goal against Portugal.
By TunGay on Jun 26, 2008 | Reply
Legend, learn something about football first before you post. The turkish player was beat and behind the play. There was no collision to cause his injury, and he went down when the Germans were on the 18! It was all fair play. Lahm scored a tremendous goal making the keeper go one way while he went inside!
By Vadim on Jun 26, 2008 | Reply
Turkey were the true winners of that game, no doubt about it. They beleived in their team more than the Germans and they wanted that ticket to the finals more than the Germans and plus they played better. I’m not even distantly associated with Turkey or Germany and have neutral feelings towards both nations. On the other hand, stop calling Germans cheaters because that is just stupid.

I see the moron from portugal is UPSET that Germany defeated his homosexual group. GET OVER IT YOU DUMB SLAVE OWNING CLOWN!!!
Dont be mad that germany is better than your pathetic country. Your country is so pathetic and small that if someone squeeze it would be goodbye to you!!
Germany is the best country in EUROPE with the best team, they proved time and time again you can’t mess with the germans and expect to get away with it.
I am sorry you are such a loser that you can’t see this.
Maybe if you stop crying and look at yourself in the mirror and realize who is the better team your life would be more happier but i doubt it.
You are what we Americans call a “moron”. LOL
You and your pathetic country are a JOKE!!
We Americans laugh when Portugal lost LOL we’re still laughing now hahahahaha

Hats off for both sides.
I am a turk living in united states and i can definetly say that the team made me proud again with their spirit. At least we showed how to fight till the end in every game.First game against portugal was really bad one but after that we never gave up and proved to everybody football is a team sport which has no definite results.Everything might be.Germany did what we had been doing since switz game. That was a good tournament for my team that i can definetly say we add some color and our games was worth to watch.Congratulations for Germany they had that iron nerves too.

Well I do agree with you that Israel does not belong to eurocups either. But then again when you look at the countries which are around them, they really could not play with anybody else around that area.
And yes I do remember that the Ottoman Empire had a large area in Europe under their control some time ago. But still turkey is part of the middle-east as their capital is not in europe and when you just look at the map you can see they don’t belong to Europe.
Don’t get me wrong though I do think Turkey can really play football/soccer very well. Albeit they play quite dirty which is demonstrated with their yellow-red card problems.

Yeah, Germany Go Go. Well done, Philipp Lahm.

@ Sideshowbob,
What is capital of Russia? Yeah it is Moscow. Do you think Moscow in Europe?
Which team made this tournament as most exciting match of all Euro Cup tournaments? Yeah, it is Turkiye. Which match was best match of all Euro Cup matches? Yeah, it is Turkiye - Czech Republic match.
So, please tell me that what would it do, if Turkiye haven’t been at Euro 2008? Yeah, very boring tournament like Euro 2004.
For these reasons, i think everybody (at least football lovers) wish to see Turkiye at World Cup 2010 and other tournaments.
Anyway, we respect to all countries and please respect us and don’t tell that Turkiye doesn’t belong to Europe.
Take care.

fuck you!!! without turkish history, there is no european history..first you have to put it in your mind…..and if you r a really football fun,you should have seen that turkey deserved the final much more than germans….so, you are fuckin racist and someone who doesn’t know anything about the game…..
By Sideshowbob on Jun 27, 2008 | Reply
I love it when you degenerate into personal attacks heh. Internets serious business.
But to answer the cool headed soccer enthusiast, yes in fact I do think Moscow belongs to Europe…the border for europe are those mountains behind Moscow
And this is nothing about race, I even have turkish friends with whom I play soccer in minor leagues. And like I said there is nothing wrong with turkish soccer they played pretty good in the tournament. But like I also said they lost to the big countries. Their wins were against mediocre countries. Just take a deep breath and you will see that.

Turkey’s land in Europe is bigger than Belgium, Luxembourg, Lichtenstein , Slovenia, Slovakia, Macedonia, Croatia, Montenegro, Kosovo, San Marino, Malta, Andorra, and I guess but not sure Armenia, Netherlands.
May I also ask why is Armenia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, who are just on the eastern border of Turkey, are deemed in Europe but not Turkey?
So according to you, Europe stops at the Western borders of Turkey, then starts again at the Eastern border of the same country. So east of Turkey is Europe, West of Turkey is Europe. But not Turkey itself in the middle. What kind of ridiculous argument is this?
Oh, by the way,
By Sideshowbob on Jun 27, 2008 | Reply
Well the land issue is sort of pointless. Since the the countries (apart from Armenia I guess) you listed are entirely in europe. Most of Turkey is not in Europe. Granted the same could be said of Russia but most of russians live this side of the Urals.
As to your second point about Armenia et al. you do make a very good point. They probably should not be considered part of Europe but I guess they are “guilty” by association by being part of the great soviet empire not long ago.
I do admit the whole turkey-europe issue is difficult and I imagine brighter people than me (or us) will debate the issue for example regarding their bid for EU membership. Whatever I’ve said here most likely should not have been said here in the first place since this place is about soccer. And for that I do apologize.
I suggest we move on and agree to disagree.
Good luck with the world championship qualifiers to one and all! My national team is going to suck anyhow and not make it but who knows mayhap they might suprise a few of the bigger countries.
