Chelsea vs Everton Highlights (Carling Cup)

10 men Chelsea fought their way to a narrow 2-1 win over Everton in the Carling Cup semi finals first leg which was held at Stamford Bridge.
The toast of the night belong to none other then Shaun Wright Phillips who scored one, and forced Joleon Lescott to make the error for the second.
Chelsea opened the scoring in the 26th minute when Wright Phillips was cleverly put through by Malouda. Wright Phillips did not waste the chance and sent curling shot passed Tim Howard.
Chelsea almost doubled their lead when Ballack’s free kick went a few inches wide with Tim Howard well beaten.
Then came the moment of madness when Mikel was sent off are lunging dangerously on Phil Neville. His fourth red card for Chelsea in his career. The decision might look harsh but it certainly helped Everton in the match.
Chelsea paid a heavy price nine minutes later when Yakubu scored after Mikel’s sending off.
The match was looking to end in a 1-1 draw till Ballack’s hopeful overhead kick pitted Wright Phillips against his England team mate Lescott. Wright Phillips outjump Lescott, feeling the pressure the defender headed the ball passed Tim Howard for a narrow win over Everton. Avram Grant was a happy man after his side victory and the second leg will be held in Goodison Park.
