Chelsea took the lead in the Carling Cup final against Tottenham Hotspurs but end up on the loosing side.

Tottenham defeated Chelsea 2-1 in front of a 87660 spectators in Wembley to mark Juande Ramos first silverware in England.

Ramos tough regime of fitness is surely proving fruitful as most of the Spurs players look fit and ready to battle.

Spurs started the Cup Final in confident mood when Belletti gave the ball straight to Robbie Keane in the middle of the park.

Chelsea was lucky as Keane’s effort went off John Terry for a corner.

Didier Drogba gave Chelsea the lead 6 minutes before half time after Zakora had given away the free kick. Robinson could not do a thing as he was flat footed.

Spurs equalized in the 70th minute when Wayne Bridge was judged to handle the ball in the box.

Berbatov coolly slotted the ball passed Cech without much problem.

The match then went into extra time.

8 million pound signing Jonathan Woodgate pop up from no where to head the ball into the empty net four minutes into extra time. A somewhat fortunate goal for Spurs. 2-1 to Spurs!

Chelsea tried their very best to score an equalizer but to no avail. In the end, Spurs stood firm for their first trophy since they won the Worthington Cup in 1999. Tottenham the new Carling Cup Champions!

Congratulations to Spurs for the gallant effort from Goalcentre.com

As usual, Chelsea still plays the Mourinho style of trying to win matches with an odd goal. Serve you right for playing that way. Chelsea will be empty handed this season for sure!

Chelsea falter in the big stage? FA Cup winners of 2007; being the first winners at the new Wembley Stadium(and last winners at the old stadium), Carling Cup winners 2005 and 2007! Can’t deny Tottenham deserved the win this time, though it pains me to say/write it.

possible for Spurs to finish top 4 next season. So if spurs in top 4 next season it means Liverpool will be out of the top 4. :)
