Taylor should be banned as long as Eduardo isn’t full fit. Maybe double that time. He is idiot. Why isn’t he pull his leg back when he missed ball.
By daniel on Feb 24, 2008 | Reply
he never ment to get the player he went fr ball it was a mistimed unmalicious tackle as much i hate blues being a villa supporter i think a stright red was a bit harsh the ref looked at how bad eduardo was not at the actual tackle
By conway on Feb 24, 2008 | Reply
come on look at it it is not malicious, he missed timed these tackles are done all the time but the timing is never this unfortunate, he went for the ball not the player you idiots calling for taylors head dont know what they are on about, come on even a vile fan is sticking up for him that says something
By Glen on Feb 24, 2008 | Reply
fact is, its not like he flew in, he had time to pull out once he missed the ball. he didnt, he didnt mean to break his leg but he chose not to pull out. he should be out for as long as eduardo is. it was obviously the blues tactic, to come out string as the same thing happened to fabregas about 2mins earlier cept the blue player didnt connect as strong. its unfortunate but its football, its a contact sport. you gotta expect things like this to happen, if you dont then go watch netball. im a gooner by the way

Even though it was not a milicous tackle, Taylor deserved that red and a possible ban -though not one till the end of the season. It was quite stupid on Taylors behalf but you could see he was distreesed afterwards so he obviously didn’t mean it. Eduardo will hopefully fully recover. ARSENAL FOR THE TITLE!

That’s not a broken leg…it’s more like an amputation.
Soccer has gotten way out of hand; my son had to get his arm pinned last season due to a rough tackle.
Put the finesse back in the game, lessen the contact, and punish barbaric stunts like this and the jerks who commit them.

Martin Taylor should be BANNED for as long as Eduardo is out of Football with a ruined ankle (one of the hardest parst of a footballers body to repair).
Anything else encourages similar savage tackling.
By gunner on Feb 25, 2008 | Reply
Shame on those people who said footballers have no balls. Why don’t I break your leg and U continue to be on the pitch for 90minutes, playing football and running around?
For those who claim Eduardo dived. well. U must be blind.

As much as the tackle had the worst consequences, it wasn’t malicious at all. Football always has, and always will be a contact sport, you wouldn’t go and play rugby then complain that somebody had broken your nose would you?? Risks are involved in football all the time, unfortunately for Taylor and Eduardo lady luck wasn’t smiling on them. Tackles are meant to be brutal and strong, this was just unlucky! I can’t believe I am defending the Scum bags!
AVFC FOR LIFE!!

To be honest, soccer is one of the most dangerous sports on planet. Which sports you will have players getting injured week in and week out? Bound to happen such cases. From my 2 cents, i think Rugby players dont get injured as often as Soccer players.
What do you all think?
By Blakey on Feb 25, 2008 | Reply
It was a foul. It was slightly late and perhaps was a little bit high - although not over the ball. It deserved a booking. If you ban Taylor for that, you’d be banning at least one player a match. Regularly in our beautiful game, players go past other players using a bit of pace or skill. More than half the time there is some contact, often unavoidable.
There were several fouls - and tackles - that were as bad as that during the game, but fortunately the consequences were not so bad.
This tackle is commonplace in football all over the world, but gladly injuries like Eduardo’s are not. Realistically, that foul could happen a hundred more times and result in little more than a sore shin/ankle for one and a booking for the other.
There will always be injuries in football.
What do you propose? Speed limits for players? Non-contact? Armoured kits?.. No.
I wish Eduardo a speedy and full recovery.
End.

Taylor, I don’t know who you are but I hope they don’t allow you to play again.

it was not a malicious tkle
he went for the ball
this is too glen, he didn have time to pull out once he went to ground that was it
he couldnt

Miss timed tackle with a slightly high foot without any bad intentions. That is how i shall put it.
Pure bad luck for the Croat. Nonetheless, hope he will be back on the pitch soon!
By smithy on Feb 25, 2008 | Reply
if u av played football u will no tht once u commit 2 a takle u cnt get out of it or u risk the chance of injurin both players!!!
By Adam Smith on Feb 25, 2008 | Reply
Dont get me wrong, football is my favoured sport and I follow it closely. The reason why football players get injured so much is because they are too soft. Football players are usual brought up to be lean and quick. If you are pushed around on the pitch you can normally get a few free kicks here and there.
Rugby players are brought up through the game to be tough and not to complain. Despite absolutely nailing their opposition and taking massive punishment, they respond as if their bodies simply do not matter. They bleed, they break but you do not see them rolling around the grass as if they are about to die.
They probably do not get injured as much as footballers because they are stronger physically, and much more so mentally

I was there and initially I couldn’t believe when a red card came out, it happened so quick and seemed a normal foul, but as time wore on you could tell it was not a routine foul at all. As much as I have sympathy for Edwardo I feel for Taylor, he is not an animal for Christs sake he has had 3 yellow cards in 3 years, he is no maniac. Last night Lee Carsley made a similar tackle on a Man City player , luckily the other player went air bourne when he took the force so no body complains about Lee Carsley being banned or how about Denis Irwin & Schmichel when they collectively sat on David Buusts leg 10 years ago and ended his career, nobody banded about hatred then so why now for Taylor? I’m disgusted about the various Croatian web sites basically calling for Taylors execution (to put it mildly)If this had been Savo Milosejvic with a broken leg I’m sure they would be setting up web sites rejoicing at the fact. Some people need to get real and get a life! Nuff said.
By Admin on Feb 27, 2008 | Reply
To be honest i was quite shocked to see the red card in the first place as well. But after replays shown, i guess Taylor deserved the red card and i am pretty sure it was not intentional. Croatia will surely miss Eduardo as he is their main player.

footballers get more injuries than rugby players. Rugb players get injuries but they dont go rolling around on the floor everytime they get touched

By Dude on Feb 29, 2008 | Reply
Dudes!! Mis-timed or not, malicious or not, Taylor’s boots were way to high for the challenge. To make matters worse, his studs were also up which in itself merits the card as perceived maliciousness. Get with the program dudes.
By HORRIBLE on Mar 1, 2008 | Reply
omg i am so horrified i can’t even think straight. i was almost in tears. dear god get well eduardo, that is not right, taylor should be banned for the rest of this season and next season and fined and sent to training to learn how to play football properly, malicious maybe it was maybe it wasn’t we don’t know what went through his mind, all we know is a poor player is now going to be in depression for a long time over this my god.
