Nigeria made through to the last eight of the African Nations Cup only just. Nigeria defeated Benin 2-0 while they needed help from Ivory Coast to beat Mali to qualify.
Nigeria goals both came in the second half both from English Premier League players. John Mikel Obi set the ball rolling when he scored in the 53rd minute for the Super Eagles.
Ayegbeni Yakubu put the tie beyond the reach of Benin when he scored four minutes before the end. Berti Vogts live to fight another day.
The Super Eagles will take on host nation Ghana in the quarter finals on Tuesday.
