Sevilla vs Barcelona Highlights Theirry Henry Copa del Rey

Defending champions Sevilla were held to a 1-1 draw by Barcelona in their Copa del Rey last 16 first leg.

Former Arsenal striker, Thierry Henry gave the visitors the lead when he raced onto a Rafael Marquez’s long pass and scored with ease pass the keeper in a one to one situation.

Stunned by the goal, Sevilla came out charging. They were rewarded at the end of the first half when Capel hit a low shot at the far post from a Sevilla corner.

Sevilla showed greater desired to score the winner in the second half but Victor Valdez stood to his ground well to deny Sevilla’s second goal. Valdes was called upon when Luis Fabiano’s free kick was on target which left the keeper to stretch at full length to deny Fabiano.

Barcelona were contented for the 1-1 draw and the return leg at the Nou Camp will surely be a blistering one.

Dont worry Michele. Still have the return leg in Nou Camp. Besides that, Barca has an away goal as well. So advantage Barca! :)

Sevilla played better in the second half with loads of chances to score. Either Valdes was there to stop them or the goal post saved Barca. The second leg will be interesting! :)

Thanks for the link to my site.

A draw at Sevilla is as good as a win. remember Barcelona always play to their strengths at Nou camp. So it is advantage Barcelona. Then Sevilla is a team which can come to Nou Camp and win, so its going to be a tough second leg.

And its natural that Sevilla had the majority of chances as its their Home match. So don’t worry. My only advice don’t put Puyol as RB, i always get frightened when I see him that position

Not a problem Varughese Rajn!:) Small matter. What is wrong with Puyol at RB? What does he do until he makes you frightened?

He is defending well in that position. I will agree with that. But we need guys who can give an attacking option as our full back. Puyol is very good in defending, but going forward he is not the same person. I am not saying that he is not trying. He is not used with that. Remember our best season had belleti and sylvinho as full backs. My point is when you have Marquez available why you want to go with puyol as RB. With Puyol as RB it looks like no attack will come from the Right Back.

You spell your name wrongly dude. Which one is the right one? Varughese Rajan or Varughese Rajn? :)
Belleti is now with Chelsea. But if too attacking minded then will let in more goals at the back? Defense is the best form of attack like how the Italians play. Maybe Puyol is using that concept?

    Its Varughese Rajan.

I do agree that defense is best form of attack. But then how many teams can defend like the Italians. Is that really Barca’s strength?
