Wes Brown: Penalty or not?

Wes Brown Tackle a penalty or not? uefa champions league man utd vs roma

Dirk Kuyt tackle on Hleb, Kolo Toure tackle on Ryan Babel and now Wes Brown tackle on Mancini.

Another controversial decision by the referee to award Roma the penalty at Old Trafford in the UEFA Champoins League 2nd leg quarter finals. Sir Alex Ferguson was furious with the referee to award Roma the ’soft’

From my point of view, Wes Brown got the ball first then only brought Mancini down. So it wasn’t a penalty from my perspective but it’s quite hard for the referee to see that Wes Brown got the ball first instead of the player.

The tackle can be viewed in the video below and you be the judge!

What say you? :)

I just can’t tell if he got the ball first or not, however many times I pause it, so the ref had no chance of being sure, so no penalty.
The fall was not caused by the contact and is a deliberate dive, so should have been a booking.
